Report : Underneath the cold, grey countryside skies, the Dons assembled eager to maintain our 2nd place position in the league. As we head towards the end of the season, the pressure is really on to keep the wins coming in if we are to achieve our target of getting promoted. Each player has to really bring their A game to every match, and Tabs was on the sideline this weekend to make sure that A was a Capital, in bold, italics and underlined!! It was nice of Shells to make the game at all this weekend........new alarm clock perhaps??

The first 15 minutes of the first half had a few hair-raising moments. We had our first break through with a lucky goal that trickled over the line...but a goal is a goal! Sloppy passes, not getting to those 50/50 balls and generally not reaching our full potential meant we soon found ourselves on the back foot with Jess left outnumbered and to fend for herself. Epsom moved it around her and got a goal to even the score out to 1-1. This seemd to be the kick up the backside (well...this and the realisation of the potential torture that would await us at training on Monday if we lost!) we needed and the pieces of the puzzle seemed to slowly slip into place. Despite Ang being semi-high on cough mixture, she managed to part with the bottle long enough to have some great runs down the left, working well with Lau and before we knew it we had another goal to our names. Despite having many shorties, we only managed to convert 1 of these, with Liz adding another point to her ever increasing and impressive goal total! This saw us end the first half with a 3-1 lead.

After a strategic and motivating half time pep talk from Tabs and Faye we set off to widen the goal difference and secure our victory. From the umps whistle signaling the start of the 2nd half it was like another team had taken to the pitch, we were finally in the zone and playing much better hockey. There were still a few run aways by Epsom, which left our defence digging deep to get back to help Jess, but these are to be expected when you play attacking hockey. Great running into the spaces, short simple passes, and generally working superbly as a team saw the goals keep adding up. Nik Nik and LiLi got themselves on the scoreboard for the first time this season - so special Borat style hiiiiiiiiigh fiiiiives go to you two!!

Goals
Liz - 3
Shells - 3
Nik Nik - 2
Leigh - 1
Lau - 1

I must admit, the Epsom ladies really are lovely and have to be one of my favourite teams, and I ALMOST feel bad we won by such a large margin............only almost though!! The best result we've had this season, really great effort ladies!

Girlie of the game was undoubtidly and deservedly awarded to Lau for a really fantastic game. Brilliant performance bud!!!

DOD - this HAD to go to Leigh - a free hit on the sideline - she decided to take it herself, and ran straight off the sideline......not a little into the field then losing control and dribbling off....no no, simply straight off from the start!! Nice one numpty!
