Well done lads I'm proud of you. Quality win. The team played as a team and put together a solid performance. The training has paid off and we were able to build on the confidence we took from our win against league leaders Surbiton the previous week. Distribution from the back and midfield continues it's upward path and we are getting the hang of when to 'press' and how to make it effective.
As well as benefiting from the addition of the twins to the line up this week we also had Dale Vearncombe to add to the fire power, and add he did, moving well off the ball and setting a good example all round (save being late of course !)- scoring a cracking goal despite trying to f*ck it up. Morgs & Fluddy head to head for Man of the Match - both 'solid'!
Mentions also due for Bushy for putting in a keen and unselfish performance and to Phil Stevens for his best game yet - playing coolly when required which is sometimes not the 'natural response' from this team when under a bit of pressure - but we are learning!
Goals - Morgs scored a good short corner early on in the game, coming after some good early play by us. Bushy scored the second and Dale the third. There were also plenty of missed chances.
Improvement - being picky; but up front we have more work to do in risk decisions (especially in periods of pressure);we all need to know when to keep it strong side and simple. We defend from the front i've heard it said, and to my mind that includes when we have the ball! To help this the calling needs to be sympathetic to retaining possession; make the leads and leave the decision with the ball carrier.
Man of the Match - Fluddy Dick of the Day - Brad
best regards Team manager
